Vermont Real Photo postcard

  • not posted but has the following written on the back...The men in this picture are all employed in this one quarry which is the Boutwell, Milne and Varnum now.  Mr Varnum is a Jeffersonville man possibly you or your father knew him.
  • the card is titled:  Milne, Clarihew and Gray Quarry.
  • very clear real photo postcard image shows the multitude of workers who had a job at the granite or marble pit.  The faces of the laborers are so clear that you would easily be able to identify them.  It is also interesting to also see the different clothes and hats that they were wearing as well as to their posing stance.  there is a piece of machinery on the left of the second tier.
  • My research into this postcard stated that the BM & V (Boutwell, Milne and Varnum) began in 1905 and was named after the 3 founders.  Name was changed to Rock of Ages in 1914.  Gave the address as Barre, VT but that it was located in Graniteville, VT.
  • stamp box normally dates 1904 to 1918
  • Please note that the majority of the cards are over 50 years old and as such, are sold AS IS. Tears will be noted but it would be too timely to note each fault on every card. If condition is important to you - contact us with our number in the title & what it is that you would like to know or what it is that you would like pictured more closely.
  • Because of the age of the cards - they are noted as being USED - no matter if they are written on or not.
