Indiana postcard - Edinburg, IN

This real photo postcard shows a small building off to the right with TELEPHONE over the doorway and a man with his arm outstretched near it and off to the left is a young girl with her hands on a rope that seems to go to the top of a pole.  I am thinking that the people on the card may have been the owner and daughter - but that is just my guess.  An old car can be seen behind her as well as some gliders.

Research showed that William F Heflin opened the place to the public in 1907.  Then joined by his sons Carl, Ralph and Roscoe.  The resort was considered the Queen of resorts around Indiana.  At first it was just primitive tent camping - with the dancing coming later.  In the early 1930s Heflins had 33 acres of land which had a hotel etc.  Closed in 1942

This card was mailed in 1912 to Miss Lena Watchill

A very unique visual memory of a time gone by.

  • Please note that the majority of the cards are over 50 years old and as such, are sold AS IS. Tears will be noted but it would be too timely to note each fault on every card.  If condition is important to you - contact us with our number in the title & what it is that you would like to know or what it is that you would like pictured more closely.
  • Again, because of the age of the cards - they are noted as being USED - no matter if they are written on or not.
